Herzogstand

One of the hiking options we will mention is uphill to the Herzogstand. There are different routes with more or less kilometres to cover depending on your physical condition.

The Herzogstand is a 1731 meter high mountain. As mentioned above, you can go to its upper part by foot or by cable car. This place is also very popular in winter because of the ski area.

It is worth climbing either way, as the view is “atemberaubend” as they say in German, so it is breathtaking. You can relax at the restaurant there.

Do you want to see the current panorama from the Herzostand? In this link you find photos, the camera does current shots every 10 minutes.

Wickiedorf

Do you know the adventures of Wickie? A Viking redheaded boy, originally a cartoon and very popular in Germany. In 2008, the story was filmed featuring real actors. One of the settings was the Walchensee and a Viking village was built, you can visit it.

Water sports

The ideal activities on this lake are Windsurfing and SUP. In the Walchensee there is no “Strandbad” as in other lakes, however you will find a kiosk to buy light food and drinks. You also rent the SUP there. There are mobile toilets like the Dixi or Toi toi.

Kochelsee: the relaxing lake

skochel

This lake is charming and offers a very relaxed environment for chilling on the shore, swimming or doing some SUP. There are more gastronomic offers here than at Walchensee. You will find international cuisine and you can’t miss the Bavarian cuisine prepared by the experts.
