It was only a recommendation on April 20. Still, from April 27, it is an obligation: the use of mouth and nose protection. Failure to obey the rule will be subject to a penalty, ranging from 150 euros to 5000 euros.

According to official information, this measure comes in this way:

Reducing the risk of infection by covering the mouth and nose,
it is mandatory wearing an everyday mask or a scarf covering the mouth and nose:

-for people over the age of seven,

-while shopping,

-in the use of local public transport and its facilities, and

-for the staff of open shops.

However, you still have to keep a distance of at least 1.5 meters to other people. Furthermore, the usual hygiene rules remain as usual.

The so-called mask obligation makes it possible to facilitate the regulations of public life, which was restricted because of the corona pandemic, as well all know.

It is not obligatory a proper protective mask, but only a covering of mouth and nose, which you can do it by yourself: even a scarf is sufficient. This does not protect you from infection, but from possibly infecting others.

Those who do not follow this new rule must expect a fine. Violations can cost up to 5000 euros. You can take a look at the updated catalog of fines of the state government.

Those who do not cover their mouth & nose in buses, trains, and shops will have to pay a fine of 150 euros. The police and the staff on buses and trains are to check that the obligation to wear masks is observed. The mask obligation does not only apply in buses, trains, or taxis but also when waiting at the bus stop or on the platform.
